Founded on February 19, 2012, UNITEWOMEN.ORG® held an unprecedented 55 rallies across the country on April 28, 2012, in answer to the political climate that disregarded the rights and equality of women.
Our evolution on social media reached the general public in a modern, easily accessible format that has allowed us to attract and empower an untapped resource of individuals who previously may not have been engaged. We have leveraged that initial movement into an organization with over 10,000 in our state groups and a reach of over 20 million in the U.S. and other countries around the world.
Our online structure and use of internet tools like Google Hangout allows us to work face to face virtually, in real time across all time zones, and gives us the ability to react to situations and legislation within minutes. Our social media platforms are supported by teams of researchers, graphic designers, video editors and other support teams which produce informational materials used for awareness campaigns, response to legislation and/or initiatives or call to actions in the states or on the national level.
As a non-partisan, inclusive organization our mission is to change the social and cultural conversation and further the participation of women as equal, valued voices in their communities and in the government process.
